Enquire About a PlaceYou're looking for something more than childcare
You're looking for a place where your child is truly seen — where their questions matter more than the answers, where mud on their knees means learning happened, and where the adults in the room are just as curious as the children.
That's what we built.
Curiosity's Child is a licensed in-home learning center in Troy, Michigan, designed from the ground up to nurture wonder. Every shelf has been considered. Every material has been chosen with intention. Every corner of this space exists to whisper to your child: go ahead — explore.
Your child won't bring home worksheets here. They'll bring home stories. They'll bring home questions you haven't thought to ask. They'll bring home dirt under their fingernails and stars in their eyes.
We don't follow a boxed curriculum. We follow children.
Your child will go outside every day that it is safe to do so. Rain, shine, snow, or wind — we gear up and we go. We follow the 1000 Hours Outside challenge. When there are no walls to contain them, children's play expands.
Children don't just speak in words. They speak in paint, in clay, in movement, in building, in song, in the way they line up pebbles on a windowsill. Every form of expression is valid. Every one is valued.
Light, texture, colour, arrangement — all of it is intentional. You'll notice this the moment you walk into our Great Room. Every shelf, every material, every corner has been placed with purpose.
Nothing happens here without trust. The relationship between teacher and child, between child and child, between family and school — these are not side features of the program. They are the program.
We don't test children — we observe them. Learning is made visible through photographs, conversations, and displays of work in progress. You will see your child's thinking unfold, not through grades or checklists.
The curriculum emerges from the children's own interests, questions, and discoveries. The teacher follows the child, not a textbook. No two weeks here look the same — and that's exactly the point.
"A child has a hundred languages, a hundred hands, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking."
Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilia approachNo two days look exactly the same. That's by design.
The door opens at 8:00 AM. Children arrive into the Great Room, greet their friends, and settle into the morning. Breakfast is served at 9:00. Then the magic begins — provocations, art, building, music, stories, nature walks, sensory play, cooking, gardening. Whatever the children's curiosity demands.
Lunch at noon — home-cooked and eaten together at the table. Then stories, and rest. The room dims. Bodies recharge. Dreams do their work.
Gentle re-entry into the afternoon. Snack and free play — often outside if the weather agrees. Pick-up begins at 4:30. Come in, sit down, and hear about your child's day.
We are a small program by design. That means your child isn't a number — they're a name we know, a personality we celebrate, and a learner we are deeply invested in.
When you hand us your child in the morning, you're handing us the most important person in your world. We don't take that lightly. Not for a single moment of a single day.
